StoryBoard Progress...

So far the animation itself is complete, I spent a lesson on garage band devising a track suitable to our storyboard idea. I had to re-acquaint myself with garageband as I haven't used it in a while. When thinking about the music for our storyboard we wanted it to be something that can be quite upbeat but switch to a more slower , sad tone towards the end of the trailer when Chase and Cindy fall out.
Also because our film is supposed to be a more independent movie the music in the trailer has to be quite creative and try not to sound like stereotypical pop music. This made it quite hard as it also has to be cheerful.  I decided to use guitars in the track as one of our influences ,'Juno' uses a sort of indie acoustic guitar track.

To replicate the style of our influence I used pre-recorded 'acoustic guitar picking' (which is the blue bars) as this provided the perfect sound we wanted for our track.

To make the track sound fuller and more realistic I also added in some bass (the green bars) and a drum beat to start a few bars into the track.

Towards the end of the track I took out the Bass parts and Drum beats and changed the guitar to an slow electric riff to give a more intense feeling and make it feel sad.

The use of less sounds also makes the track less cheerful at this point which is the effect we want to give.

The hardest part of making the track was getting the timings right between the track and the storyboard animation. I must admit a lot of the timings were down to trial and error playing the track along with the storyboard animation and stopping the track where it needs to be made longer or shorter.

This is the final track:

our storyboard is in colour so we know the colours that we want to use , but we also have a black and white storyboard to conform to conventions:
